Since a very early age, I remember learning about politics. I remember when Bush Jr. ran against Gore. I remember my mom gasping as Florida was in play as to whether it would turn red or blue on our big square television screen. I remember my parents and grandparents talking about the good old days of Reagan and Kennedy, where politicians worked to solve problems, rather than simply trying to be popular. I remember 9-11. I remember when Obama won...both times. I remember the first time I ever voted. I remember how it felt to press a button and cast my two cents into the abyss that is our democracy. All my life I've listened and read about the difference between a democracy and a republic, why America is terrible or amazing, why this candidate or that candidate could change history forever.
